A Whir of Carved Cedar
I walked down the sunny sidewalk until I reached the shaded pavilion in Fairmont Park, where a broad cedar picnic table stood overlooking the lawn. Resting near the edge was a miniature wooden spinning top, finely turned with concentric scored rings along its rounded crown. I paused to admire its smooth timber grain before stepping close. Leaning over the polished plank, I gathered the slender carved peg between both hands. With a gentle, measured twist of my palms, I set it into motion. The little top righted itself instantly, humming softly as it danced in a dizzying golden blur across the warm wood.#Real Timey
