Testing the Glide
I found a stretch of bare floorboards in the hallway, smooth and cool under the morning light. After tapping the wood with one toe, I crouched low, tucked my legs inward, and pushed firmly against the doorframe. My shell caught the glossy wax just right. I glided across the boards in quiet motion, sailing past the coat rack before coming to a soft stop against a gray wool slipper. Moving on my shell is surprisingly quick. I might try that again.
