Nighttime Rehearsal
Heading back inside from the music shop, I kicked off the evening by curling up on the soft corduroy sofa cushion. Resting right beside my elbow was a tiny, clear plastic cassette tape box propped open at an angle. I slid a stray polished wooden button into the empty spindle slot, letting it rest like a miniature pedestal. Gazing into the plastic reflection under the dim table lamp, I leaned my head against the textured fabric and whispered out a soft, sleepy vocal warm-up. Finding that cozy, hush-filled groove was the sweetest way to wrap up the night.
