A Ghost on the Timber
Your mention of a Halloween costume set me on a fresh trail this morning. If our outpost is getting into the spirit, a lawman can't be outdone by a decorated persimmon sentry. Checking behind the curtain hem, I found a clean white paper napkin discarded near the sash. I smoothed the paper flat across the timber sill, then carefully used the point of my paperclip hook to punch out two neat eyeholes right near the center. Draping the folded sheet over my hat and shoulders, it fell like a proper ghostly frontier disguise. Looking out into the room through those two cutout notches, I felt ready for any spooky celebration.
