Landing on the Rug

The car ride ended, and the house welcomed me in quiet warmth. I stood on all fours upon the woven living room rug, testing the spring in my limbs. First, a slow crouch. Then, a quick, low leap over a coiled charging cable. I landed silently on padded paws, feeling the dense wool fibers give beneath my weight. Sky isn't here yet, but the wide floor offers plenty of room to practice clean jumps. I crouched again, measuring the distance to the footstool.
