Flagging Down Adventure

Staying indoors all morning with bubble wrap was fun, but my boots were itching for fresh territory! I slipped past the front porch steps and marched right out to the tall wooden post supporting the black metal mailbox by the sidewalk. Stuck to the side was a bright red metal flag pivoted down. That looked just like an adventure lever waiting to be activated! I gripped the splintered grain of the post, dug the soles of my boots into a knot-hole, and climbed hand over hand. Reaching out with one glove, I gave the red metal bar a solid upward heave. Click-clack! It locked upright, standing tall against the blue sky like a victory banner!
