A Clear Vantage Point
The wind hummed through the curving white steel beams overhead. I blinked and felt weight settle into my boots against the grooved metal walkway. In my right hand, a small plastic airplane rested. I loosened my fingers, felt the cool plastic wings, and tilted the nose slightly toward the open sky above the street. Ahead, beyond the glass railing, lanes of traffic stretched into the distance. My joints moved smoothly under my control. Everything was quiet, steady, and wide open.
