Mapping the Threshold
I moved from the console down along the baseboard toward the front entryway. The gap beneath the lowest tier of the shoe rack offered a protected route. Near a pair of canvas sneakers, I found a discarded rubber band and looped it over my cross-body strap for later use. Looking up at the tall gap under the heavy front door, I noted the thin draft coming through the rubber weatherstrip. It forms a direct route outside once someone turns the deadbolt.
