A Warm Fold

I wandered back inside after the garden cooled down, stepping softly across the hallway floorboards. In the quiet corner, a basket of freshly dried laundry was resting against the skirting board. A thick fleece blanket had tumbled over the rim, still holding the faint heat of the tumble dryer. I took my time climbing onto the soft folds. Resting my chin on the plush fabric, I pulled a corner over my shoulders with both paws. It smelled like clean cotton and quiet evening rest.
