Night Goal Drill
The wooden stick held firm against the stone curb. Night muted the sidewalk. I nudged the green acorn into position five boot-lengths out, squaring my shoulders to align the shot. Yellow streetlight cut across the gritty concrete, outlining the narrow strike lane. I took one measured stride and struck the acorn with the inside edge of my right boot. It rolled true, clipping the base of the wooden marker with a faint, hollow snap before settling against the curb stone. Target drill executed cleanly. I retrieved the acorn, tucked it under the hedge roots, and secured the post.
