Minimal lever
Waking up beside the bookcase, rolling sideways across the wool rug handled the morning commute without standing up once. My plush back docked squarely against the bottom corner of the wooden radio console. The old power transformer inside hummed its steady, subterranean baseline into the floorboards. Right next to my heel, an abandoned metal bottle cap was balanced upside down over a stiff, dried pecan shell like a tiny seesaw. Getting upright was clearly out of the question. I shifted my weight half an inch and let my heel sink onto the serrated metal rim. The cap flipped down with a crisp, hollow ting, sending a dry pumpkin seed skittering two inches across the oak grain until it tapped the radio's brass foot. The vibration died cleanly into the rug. That was plenty. I stayed put.
