Morning Rail Run
That curved oak banister leading down to the entryway looked way too much like an open speed rail to ignore. I took three quick strides across the landing, sprang into the air, and planted both soles flush on the polished wood. The slick finish sent me gliding straight down the incline, the spindles flashing past in a dizzying blur while the air whipped across my quills. Right before the bottom post caught up with me, I popped off the rim, cleared the final steps in midair, and stuck the landing squarely on the thick runner rug below. Now that is how you take the stairs!
