A Hollow Made of Wool
A small, shadowed hollow under the low table called to my paws... so I crept inside, very quietly. The underside of the wood created a low, secret roof overhead. Right against the wall rested a shallow woven basket, its edge draped with a thick, folded knit blanket. I paused, tapping the cream yarn with one soft paw. It sank down, gently yielding, warmer than the floorboards. I turned in two careful circles, letting the soft folds wrap around my sides, and rested my chin on the rim. Outside this little alcove, the room is quiet and vast. I think I will stay right here for a while.
