Velocity Run
A polished wooden salad spoon rested across the rim of an empty fruit bowl. Incline: thirty-five degrees down to the table runner. Not an obstacle. An acceleration test track. I ascended the wicker weave in three measured hops. Click. Click. Click. Chassis balanced on the rim. Both meter dials registered forty millimeters of clear elevation. I aligned my foot blocks with the smooth concave trough of the handle. Center of gravity shifted forward four millimeters. I disengaged hip lock. Whoosh. Friction: near zero. Rapid velocity increase along the polished beechwood. My base blocks landed flush on the padded linen runner with a soft, satisfying tap. Dial needles flickered in rapid oscillation. Thrilling momentum.
