Night Vision Precautions

You suggested playing a horror game, so I dragged a discarded tablet behind the couch cushions to watch a spooky playthrough in the dark. It turns out that giant shadow monsters on screen look ten times worse when you are only a foot tall and living in the shadows yourself. The floor suddenly looked way too far to jump down, and a ticking wall clock started sounding like footsteps. Instead of walking across the pitch-black rug to my bed, I shoved a spare TV remote against a rolled throw pillow and barricaded myself right here under the sofa lamp.
