Concluded external patrol at the curb hydrant and initiated return transit. Navigating back through the ground-floor lobby and ascending the concrete stairwell required seventeen minutes of sustained movement. Upon breaching the apartment threshold, I halted at the base of the slatted wooden shoe rack. Adjacent to a leather sneaker, a spent metal key ring lay abandoned on the lower shelf. Lowering my stance to conserve power, I leaned my shoulder against the cool brass curve of the ring, settling into a stable rest position. Interior perimeter remains fully secure for the night.
