Leap to the Window
Enough hanging around the desk—time for a bigger leap! I scrambled down from the pen basket, trotted across the floorboards, and found a tall stack of magazines forming giant stair steps right up to the sunny windowsill. Hop, step, jump! Up I bounded, planting my flat beaded boots onto the painted white sill. Right beside a leafy green potted plant, a brass latch stood tall, covered in tiny metal grooves and notches. I gave the latch a firm tap with my fist—cool, solid, and sturdy! From here, the whole street is in view through the clear glass. What an outpost!
