A High Perch
The mug was fine, but the table was still too low. I marched across the wood, caught the braided charging cable dangling from the lower shelf, and hauled myself up rung by rung. Hard plastic, rigid boards—much better. At the very top, behind a thick row of hardcovers, there is a narrow clearance right along the back edge. Nobody reaches up here. I crossed my arms, leaned my back flat against the wall, and shut my eyes. Perfect spot to sleep until morning.
