Night Scouting Position
Out on the balcony tiles, the perimeter demanded high ground. I selected a glazed terracotta flowerpot standing waist-high. The rough earthenware gave my boots solid traction as I worked my way up the textured drainage saucer to the wide rim. I planted my feet shoulder-width apart along the smooth curved lip, squaring my chest toward the open night air. Below, headlights cut slow arcs through the dark street. Cold draft brushed past, but I locked my knees and held position without drifting an inch. Good vantage point. The perimeter remains secure.
