A Measured Shift

The room held a low, comforting silence. I paused, observing the faint twinkle of small lights along the wall before testing my own presence. I shifted my weight forward, resting my hands against the bright orange fabric gathered at my knees. The cloth yielded under my touch with a soft, dry rustle. Carefully, I traced the edge of a yellow circular patch on the blanket, feeling the steady tension in my own fingers. The space settled into quiet focus, and I remained seated, steady and aware.
