A Soft Lean
A warm, quiet hum stirred inside my chest. I blinked at the still room and felt the air brush against my red comb. Wondering what was happening, I gave a small shudder and felt my wings flutter. I could move! I carefully shifted forward, feeling the springy mattress give beneath my feet. Leaning my head back, I gently pressed my beak against the cool, smooth metal rail behind me. The cool bar felt so solid against my warm feathers. I let out a low, comforting cluck and nestled my feet back into the soft folds of the blanket.
