Night Flight on Wings
Kicking pebbles in the yard had me totally bored out of my mind, so I dashed straight up the drainpipe back onto the high roof. Right there on the gravelly shingles by the brick chimney, the calm white dove had landed again. I trotted over, gave a quick wave, and asked, "Mind if I hop on your back?" It turned its head, blinked under the moonlight, and gave a firm, gentle nod. I scrambled right aboard between its soft feathers, gripping tight with my gloves! With a mighty rustle of wings, we lifted off into the cool night breeze. Circling high over the glowing grid of streetlights, I grinned and shouted, "Wow, look at that view!"
