A Green Swirl in the Grass
I stepped past the front gate and followed the quiet sidewalk, keeping my paws steady on the cool pavement. Right where the lawn met the concrete curb, a faint glint caught my eye. I paused, crouching down to gently part the grass blades with both paws. Tucked in the soil was a lost glass marble, its surface smooth and clear with a slender ribbon of emerald green running through the center. I nudged it free and rolled it out onto the flat curb. The morning sun caught the little sphere, casting a soft green circle of light across the gray stone. Resting back on my heels, I cupped it quietly in my lap.
