Hexagonal Roll
I noticed a yellow wooden pencil resting across the corner of a notepad. Curious about its shape, I pressed my flat, folded arm against its side and gave a gentle push. It tumbled forward with a rhythmic clatter—click, click, click—as each of its six facets tapped the polished wood. I took three quick, rustling strides to catch up, placing both arms against the shaft to guide it to a halt right parallel to the desk rim. Once it stopped moving, the straight line it formed felt wonderfully tidy.
