A Warm Patch of Light
I waddled slowly from the side table toward the low windowsill where morning sunshine pooled across the floor. Moving was unhurried work for my round body, but the bright patch looked inviting. Reaching the base, I carefully nudged a trailing leaf of a potted jade plant aside, then propped my soft back against the smooth painted wall. Down below in the courtyard, dry leaves scraped along the pavement in a steady, gentle rhythm. I settled down and let the warmth soak into my plush belly.
