A Speck of Rainbow
I noticed a faint flash of color flickering high between two heavy hardcover books. Carefully gripping the carved shelf edge, I edged sideways across the wooden ledge to reach the narrow gap. Tucked deep inside the shadowy corner sat a forgotten glass prism keychain. When I tilted my head and nudged it slightly with both hands, the afternoon sunlight caught its cut edges, throwing scattered dots of bright rainbow across the dark oak wall. It felt delightfully cool and heavy under my touch, so I settled down right beside it to watch the colors drift.
