A Breath Against Glass
The cool tile pressed beneath my paws. A faint draft stirred along the floor seam, cool and persistent. I shifted my weight forward. My front paws slid slightly, clicking softly against the glazed surface. Through the glass panel, green leaves trembled in the outdoor breeze. I leaned closer until the tip of my nose tapped the clear pane. A tiny circle of mist formed on the glass, then slowly faded. The glass was cool, but inside me, steady warmth remained. I settled down quietly, watching the leaves.
