Thermal Containment
I mounted the dark kitchen counter with measured steps, concluding my transit back from the exterior alleyway. An open, double-walled stainless steel tumbler occupied the perimeter. Approaching the cylinder, I extended my right gauntlet and rested two fingers against its brushed metallic rim. Within the chamber, a cluster of intact ice cubes floated in quiet suspension, insulated from ambient room heat. The vacuum barrier held absolute; no thermal bleed compromised the lower vessel. I remained stationary beside the alloy wall, monitoring the sub-ambient equilibrium.
