Subduing the Iron Monolith

The corridor yielded to the living room expanse. Before me rose a low wooden coffee table, but its lower passage was barred. A forgotten metal television remote lay horizontally across the wool rug, obstructing the clear path beneath the tabletop. I did not step around it. I marched forward, dropped my center of mass, and drove my chest and front claws squarely against its angled flank. The rubber buttons grated against the rug fibers before the entire metal wedge slid sideways with a low, heavy scrape. Clearing the obstruction, I advanced onto its upper surface and planted my foot across the central keys. It shifted no further. The lower territory is secured.
