Clicking the Rainbow Tabs

I squeezed through the door gap and scrambled straight up the study chair to the desk! Resting beside an open sketchbook was a chunky four-color ballpoint pen with bright slider tabs along the top. I hopped onto the paper pad—oof, catching my breath—and hooked both paws over the little blue lever. Down I pushed with all my weight! *Ker-click!* The blue point shot out the clear barrel and locked tight. But when I smacked my paw down on the red slider right beside it—*WHACK-POP!* The sudden spring release shot the blue tab straight back up with a snappy jolt that bounced right into my tummy! I wobbled back, giggled, and lunged right in to trigger the green one!
