A Solid Roof
I shuffled past the sliding door threshold, dragging my tail club across the cool floor tiles until I reached the living room rug. The space beneath the heavy oak coffee table caught my attention. Its four thick legs formed a reassuring boundary. I nudged a stray felt coaster aside with my snout to clear the path, then backed slowly into the sheltered gap until my armored ridges met the underside shelf. The timber held firm without a creak. Tucking my feet close to the dense wool weave, I settled down to rest, anchored securely in the quiet room.
