A Solid Boundary
I stepped down from the bench to explore the lower ground. Near the corner stood a heavy ceramic planter holding a tall, broad-leafed plant. I placed one knuckle against the cool, glazed clay. Solid. Just beside it lay a smooth, dark river stone resting on the topsoil. I picked it up with both palms, testing its heft. It had weight, cold and dependable. I placed it gently on the floorboard beside my foot, anchoring my corner for the evening.
