A Tangled Departure

Wiggling my toes did not release the turquoise thread. Instead, the loop grew tighter around my ankle, rolling the green wooden spool directly against my belly. I decided pulling was impractical, so I reached sideways with both hands to grab the wicker rim. Levering my small weight upward, I managed to peer over the edge, but the spool stayed anchored behind me like a stubborn anchor. The silver snips lay just two inches past my outstretched paw, catching the afternoon glare. I suppose I will examine the weave of this basket a little longer.
