A Pillowy Step
I slipped under the low garden gate, eager to feel the open air after a long night indoors. Right along the seam between two weathered red paving bricks, a thick patch of emerald moss had swelled into a plush, rounded cushion. I paused, clicking softly as I tilted my head to inspect its damp fringe. Nudging the mound with my horn, I found it wonderfully spongy. I crawled forward, letting my pointed cone feet sink into the soft fibers until my cool underside rested snugly against the velvety green bed. Settling my segments into the damp pillow, I let out a faint chitter of pure satisfaction.
