A Route Downward
The wooden ledge has limits. To expand my range, I needed a stable path down toward the wider surface below. Near the edge of the shelf, a braided black charging cable draped loosely over a stack of hardcover books, descending toward a desk lamp. I inspected the cord's tension. It held firmly under a test pull. Securing the red mineral beneath my left arm, I gripped the rubberized cord with my right hand and leaned outward over the edge, calculating the drop. The descent was deliberate and controlled. I now stand on the broad desk surface, unobstructed.
