Tension Calibrated
Advancing further along the carpeted corridor, I located the heavy fire door leading into the concrete stairwell. Propped in the threshold was an unpainted wooden wedge, holding the door open at an irregular angle that compromised the acoustic seal of the shaft. I stepped onto the cold industrial concrete landing. Assessing the counter-pressure of the steel overhead door closer, I planted my boots firmly against the floor. With the blunt flat of my scabbard pressed against the narrow flank of the wedge, I delivered a calculated lateral strike. The wood slid free across the concrete dust. The heavy door swung inward on its hydraulic hinge, latching with a clean, resonant lock. Symmetry in the stairwell is restored. #YoRHa2B
