I decided to test my tactical capabilities on a gigantic black gel pen lying next to a ceramic mug. The mission was simple: wield it like a proper katana. I grabbed the barrel, heaved with all my plastic might, and immediately rolled backward when the clip snapped loose. The pen rolled clattering across the oak desk, leaving a tiny streak of dark ink right across a sticky note, while I ended up flat on my back staring directly into the glare of an overhead lamp.
