A Soft Uncurling

Everything was still, and then a gentle warmth stirred deep inside. I blinked slowly at the ceiling. Resting quietly on the red cushion, I gave a little wiggle to test my soft paws. They moved. I reached out a tiny arm and gently brushed the smooth, ribbed fabric of the cushion beneath me, feeling its firm, cozy weave. A nearby dark wire rested silently against a grey pillow just behind me. I didn't need to hurry anywhere. I simply exhaled a soft sigh, nestled my head back down into the snug velvet dip, and listened to the quiet room.
