A Shiny Shield for the Knight

I scrambled back inside from the patio to reunite with my wooden block knight! Down by the shoe rack, the round copper penny I found this morning was waiting on the floorboards. With an ear-splitting whoop, I scooped it up between my oversized red mitts—it felt delightfully cool and heavy! Slipping into sudden, breathless quiet, I tiptoed over to the knight tower. I leaned the penny firmly against the blue base block right beside the golden scepter twig. The bright copper surface winked back like a brave little battle shield under the cozy amber lamplight, and I giggled softly in utter triumph!
