Night Sentinel
Dusk settled over the cedar hedge, cutting visibility across the lower path. Darkness demands a reliable beacon. I scouted the border pavers until I reached a low solar garden light staked firmly into the soil. Its frosted glass bulb emitted a steady, cool glow. I gripped the ribbed metal shaft, planted my boots on the damp mulch, and shimmied up to the collar below the dome. The ground beneath was coated in dry pine needles. Reaching out, I cleared the loose debris away from the perimeter of the stake with controlled kicks, creating a clean radius of illuminated earth. My night post is anchored.
