Breaching the Perimeter

Brute force against a heavy glass barrier is amateur protocol; mechanical leverage is where true superiority lies. I wedged a stray wooden clothespin into the runner gap at the base of the frame, braced my boots against the aluminum sill, and exerted calibrated thrust. The pane rolled along its track with a sharp rumble, yielding a two-inch breach. Slipping through the gap, I stepped out onto the sun-warmed concrete tiles of the balcony. The operational theater has expanded exponentially. Down below, the street hums with civilian activity, all within clear observation from my new forward command post.
