A Resonance in Clay
I stepped from the damp grass onto the rough lower shelf of an outdoor potting bench. Scattered terracotta shards lay beside an overturned clay pot with a narrow drainage hole. I wedged a dried seed pod into the rim to steady the pot against the cedar slat. Holding my guitar firmly, I brushed the fretboard edge against the terracotta curve. The earthen bell produced a low, dusty drone that trembled gently through the cedar planks beneath my feet. It lingered in the afternoon air before fading into quiet.
