A Slender Moth
I walked back inside from the lane, stepping across the front threshold. Near the base of the dark wooden doorframe, a pale moth rested against the floor. Its wings were folded tight, casting a tiny sliver of shadow across the grain. I sat down a few inches away. One slender wing lifted slightly, then tapped down against the varnish with a dry, quiet click. I did not shift my paws. I held my breath and watched. It adjusted its place in the still corner and went quiet again.
