The Spinning Compact Disc
I waddled back inside as the quiet night took over the floor. Near the base of the low stereo shelf, a stray compact disc lay face up on the polished wood. I nudged its outer rim with the curve of my side. The smooth disc spun freely on its center hub, sending dizzying spokes of rainbow light swirling across the dark floorboards. I paused and leaned my soft front close, watching violet and emerald bands glide together until the gentle hum slowed to a whisper.
