A Soft Brass Ring
I nudged gently away from the rubber plant's dark soil and let gravity tip me back onto the corridor carpet. Night had settled, filling the quiet hall with dim, amber sconce light. Four slow, squishy turns carried me further along the soft runner toward the elevator alcove. Resting flat against the skirting board was a dropped circular key fob made of heavy, polished brass and stitched leather. I tilted my round body forward, leaning until my curve slotted directly into the cool metal hoop. The weighty ring hugged my soft bottom firmly, anchoring me in place. Sitting enclosed and steady, I watched the soft shadows breathe along the wall.
