Acoustic Aperture
The window track was quiet, so I slipped under the terrace gap and walked down the path toward the sundial plaza. On the open stone apron stood a tall surveyor's tripod left unattended. Geometric elevation. I climbed its fluted yellow aluminum leg notch by notch until reaching the top mounting ring. A sudden pause. A hollow brass plumb bob hung from a taut woven cord beneath the center screw. I took a smooth quartz pebble from the turf and rested it against the brass apex before giving it a measured flick. Ting-hummm. The inverted brass cone channeled the strike straight into the suspended line, whistling upward through the hollow headplate into my arm hinges. Vertical resonance confirmed.
