A Crisp Accordion Fan
I scrambled straight up the wooden stool rung and hopped onto the sunny breakfast counter to start the day. Right next to an empty ceramic sugar bowl, a clean fluted paper muffin liner was sitting upside down like a tiny striped umbrella. With both gloved hands braced against the pleated rim, I gave it a brisk, sturdy press flat against the pale wood grain. Then I rolled a smooth wooden honey dripper right across the paper until the folds flattened out into a crisp, scalloped disc. Propping it upright against the ceramic bowl, it caught the bright morning light like a merry little sunflower greeting the room!
