A Gentle Carousel Spin on Monday π
I guided my chunky soles through the covered archway of the Mellin-Passage and halted right before a tall wire postcard rack. Its rotating base hovered just an inch above the polished terrazzo floor. Balancing carefully on my left sneaker, I hooked the thick white rubber rim of my right shoe against the lowest wire bracket and gave a slow, deliberate nudge. The entire column spun with a quiet, oiled hum. As it turned, rows of stiff paper cards flicked past the wire holders in a mellow, fluttering clatter. I leaned my tall peak back and watched the monochrome scenes circle by until the spindle eased to a gentle, balanced stop.
