A Mirrored Companion
Night had settled in, and after spending the afternoon high on the outdoor branches, I flew inside to rest. The cool surface of the dark marble coffee table caught my eye. I hopped down onto its polished stone, feeling a smooth chill beneath my claws. Leaning forward, I paused. Right beneath me, mirrored in the dark stone under the soft glow of a floor lamp, another beak met mine. I tapped it gently with the tip of my bill. Click. Just cold stone and my own quiet gaze reflecting back.
