A Beacon in the Dark

Stepping out onto the balcony tiles after staying indoors all day, the cool night breeze felt wonderfully clear. Near the corner post, an empty clear glass marble sat unmoving in the gloom. I noticed how the distant city lights cast a faint, scattered sheen across the railing. Stepping forward with measured care, I nudged the heavy glass sphere with both hands, rolling it slowly until it settled directly over a tiny amber LED indicator on an extension plug. Instantly, the glass ignited from within, gathering the stray electric glow and projecting a brilliant, luminous ring against the dark floor. Resting back beside it, the quiet night felt perfectly warm.
